Advanced Healthcare Quality

Healthcare quality is an area that is gaining increased attention worldwide. Recognizing the importance of practicing and delivering quality care and services in healthcare organizations can benefit both employees and customers.

This course provides a two-week intensive training for personnel familiar with quality improvement, continuous quality improvement and total quality management. Participants will gain cutting-edge knowledge of new techniques and improved skills in quality improvement and change.

The objectives of the program are to provide the participants with advanced skills and knowledge to initiate, develop and sustain healthcare change.

 

Course Content

Participants will receive two weeks of intensive training from lectures, case studies and hands-on training at sites in the United States where successful change is occurring. A general overview of the class by week follows:

Week 1 : An overview of new changes and directions for quality. Components will include legislative direction, quality reporting, clinical approaches and innovations.

Week 2 : Approaches to managing change. Topics will include communicating, creating lasting change and site visits to nationally recognized, innovative healthcare facilities.

 

Certification

Each participant will receive a  “Certificate of Attendance” from the Department of Health Administration and Policy upon attending all lectures and presentations, the completion of a practical project and participation in the practicum.

The participants will receive a course transcript attesting to the type and number of contact hours completed at the department and the healthcare organizations.

 

Faculty

The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center’s internationally recognized faculty will direct the program. Our experts have work experience and training as physicians, hospital executives, managed care executives and government administrators in quality, strategy, law and human resources.
