Certificate in Public Health
A Graduate Professional Certificate in Public Health targets those who can
benefit from formal public health instruction, but for whom the MPH degree
is either not desirable or necessary for their career trajectory. Because the
certificate program is fully integrated with the College curriculum and consist
s of courses core to the Master of Public Health program, students successfully
completing the Certificate program will be eligible for consideration for admission
into the MPH degree program.
The certificate program is designed to take full advantage of the advanced
technological capabilities of the College to deliver coursework through a wide
variety of means. Along with traditional classroom delivery, all courses required
for the Certificate will be available through distance education techn ology
which includes synchronous and asynchronous streaming.
The curriculum for the Certificate in Public Health consist s of the six core
courses required for the Master's of Public Health degree. Course work completed
with an A or B in the Certificate program may be applied to a College of Public
Health degree program if the student is admitted to the degree program within
three years of completing the Certificate requirements and if the course work
is evaluated as appropriate for the program of study. The admission requirements
for the Certificate program are the same as those for the MPH degree program
: a baccalaureate degree or equivalent from an accredited institution of higher
education with a grade point average of 3.00 or greater in the last 60 hours
of course work applied toward the undergraduate degree or completion of an
entry level professional degree from an accredited institution with an accumulative
grade point average of 3.00 or greater.
