Certificate in Public Health

A Graduate Professional Certificate in Public Health targets those who can benefit from formal public health instruction, but for whom the MPH degree is either not desirable or necessary for their career trajectory. Because the certificate program is fully integrated with the College curriculum and consist s of courses core to the Master of Public Health program, students successfully completing the Certificate program will be eligible for consideration for admission into the MPH degree program.

The certificate program is designed to take full advantage of the advanced technological capabilities of the College to deliver coursework through a wide variety of means. Along with traditional classroom delivery, all courses required for the Certificate will be available through distance education techn ology which includes synchronous and asynchronous streaming.

The curriculum for the Certificate in Public Health consist s of the six core courses required for the Master's of Public Health degree. Course work completed with an A or B in the Certificate program may be applied to a College of Public Health degree program if the student is admitted to the degree program within three years of completing the Certificate requirements and if the course work is evaluated as appropriate for the program of study. The admission requirements for the Certificate program are the same as those for the MPH degree program : a baccalaureate degree or equivalent from an accredited institution of higher education with a grade point average of 3.00 or greater in the last 60 hours of course work applied toward the undergraduate degree or completion of an entry level professional degree from an accredited institution with an accumulative grade point average of 3.00 or greater.
