Master of Public Health

The Master of Public Health degree is a College of Public Health professional graduate degree designed to prepare practicing professionals in the field of public health. All students are initially admitted into the MPH General Public Health track and must complete the public health core courses within the first 22 credit hours of enrollment. We believe this will provide students a more comprehensive understanding of public health, which will assist them in their future coursework. The MPH is a professional graduate degree under the academic authority of the College of Public Health . Options for special emphasis are available in the five primary disciplines of Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Occupational and Environmental Health, Health Promotion Sciences and Health Administration and Policy and two specialty tracks, General Public Health and Public Health Preparedness and Terrorism . If you have already decided on a specialty area, you will have the opportunity to pursue that option following your initial enrollment in three core courses and acceptance by the department or program. If you are uncertain which area you wish to pursue, the information obtained in the core courses in addition to the opportunities for you to discuss your interests with the faculty will provide the information for you to make your choice at the appropriate time within the first 22 credit hours of enrollment. All the specialty tracks require the core courses, therefore, this will not add to or delay course requirements for your MPH program of study. Exceptions will be made to this requirement for students electing enrollment in one of the recognized dual degree programs.

Additional information is available in the Student Bulletin.
